16. Dünya Meteoroloji Kongresi Cenevre’de Devam Ediyor… 18 Mayıs 2011

16 Mayıs 2011 günü başlayan DMÖ Kongresi İsviçre’nin Cenevre şehrinde devam ediyor. İlk 2 gün Yüksek Seviyeli katılımda yapılan konuşmalar ve faaliyetlerin ardından Kongre, Bölge Birliği başkanları ve DMÖ Komisyon Başkanlarının raporları ile devam etmektedir.

Programa Mehmet ÇAĞLAR Başkanlığında katılan DMİ Heyeti, Kongre takibi yanında ikili ve grup görüşmeleri de gerçekleştirmektedir. Bu kapsamda DMİ Genel Müdürü Sayın Mehmet ÇAĞLAR, 18.05.2011 günü Türki Cumhuriyetler, Afrika, Ortadoğu, Balkan ve Rusya’dan ayrılan ülkelerden oluşan 50 ‘ye yakın Genel Müdür onuruna Kongre Merkezinde bir öğle yemeği verdi.

I would like to express my warm welcome to all of you.

It is very kind of you to accept our invitation and participate in the Lunch. I am honored very much by your presents here My name is Mehmet Çağlar, Director-General of the Turkish State Meteorological Service and PR of Turkey with WMO. I spent my entire professional career at the Turkish State Meteorological Service, except during the years between 1990 and 2007. I have worked at various positions at the Turkish Meteorological Service when I began working in 1986. Between 1990 and 2007, I worked for General Directorate of Electrical Power Resources Survey and Development Administration as Deputy Director General responsible for renewable energy sources e.g Winds, Solar and Hydraulic.

Beside my long experience in high level management, I have carried out many projects and activities related to Meteorology, Hydrology and Climate at the national, regional and international scales.

As you may know, I am a candidate for the post of the Secretary General of WMO.

I am very well aware of the importance of the Meteorology and Hydrology for all sectors in the World and the role of the WMO to implement its objectives globally. I strongly believe that structure of the WMO should be improved by taking into consideration of its members needs particularly attentions shall be given for the Least Developed Countries. Please be assured that I will provide my highest effort to achieve these goals and to take the WMO further. I am looking forward to your invaluable support to my candidacy.
